SoAring Toward Gender Equity

A Vision for Change with the Lehigh Soaring Together Scholarship

“Gender equality not only liberates women but also men from prescribed gender stereotypes.”
- Emma Watson

Equity is for Everyone

Gender equity shouldn’t be defined with a simple sentence.

It’s more than a concept — it’s a commitment to creating a world where everyone is treated equally, regardless of gender identity.

Gender equity ensures equal access to all opportunities by breaking systemic barriers that prevent people from thriving.

While most associate gender equity primarily with feminism, there is much more to consider regarding this broad topic.

To me, gender equity comes down to making a conscious effort to treat everyone with respect. It also involves providing extra support and care for those who face gender-related oppression.

Gender inequity is in effect everywhere, whether we realize it or not.

THE IDEAL

A gender-equitable world focuses on empowering those who have been diminished from opportunities or have felt confined due to gender stereotypes and discrimination.I envision a world where the confines of gender stereotypes limit nobody: where men feel more comfortable expressing their feelings, where a person can wear a dress without feeling exposed or vulnerable, and where little girls know that they can do anything they set their minds to.
